這變成絕響，Fred Marcellino完成這本書之後，繼續寫做續集Arrivederci, Crocodile( or See You Later, Alligator)時逝世，I, Crocodile(1999) 得到很多獎項，有The New York Times (Best Books of the Year), Publishers Weekly (Best Book of the Year), Child magazine (Best Book of the Year), the New York Times Book Review (Ten Best Illustrated Picture Books) and the ALA (Notable Book)
但是也是唯一一本由Fred Marcellino寫、繪原創的圖畫書。
